ABOUT LOYAD BOOKER

Loyad Booker is a lifelong resident of Bayonne, where he graduated from Bayonne High School before going on to attend Kean College and Jersey City State University.

A decorated combat veteran, Booker was deployed overseas during Operation Desert Storm as a communication specialist, earning the Southwest Asia Service Medal and the Bronze Star.

He then worked for the Bayonne Police Department for 25 years until recently retiring, where he worked to improve community policing and crime prevention programs.

Booker is an instructor at the Hudson County Public Safety Training Center, helping newly hired officers prepare for the job.

 

He is also married with three children.

Loyad Booker is a lifelong Bayonne resident whose dedication to service, community, and progress has shaped every chapter of his life. Born and raised in Bayonne and educated in the city’s public schools, Loyad’s values were formed by the strong neighborhoods, diverse families, and hardworking spirit that define the community he proudly calls home.

After graduating high school, Loyad continued his education before answering a higher calling—service to his country. He enlisted in the United States Army and served with distinction during Operation Desert Storm, earning honors that include the Bronze Star and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. His time in uniform strengthened his sense of duty, integrity, and leadership—qualities he carried with him long after returning home.

When his military service concluded, Loyad came back to Bayonne—because Bayonne has always been his heart. He went on to serve 25 years with the Bayonne Police Department, protecting the safety and well-being of residents across the city. Throughout his career, he built strong relationships with families, seniors, local leaders, and neighborhood organizations, becoming a trusted and respected figure within the community.

 

Today, Loyad Booker is running for Mayor of Bayonne with a clear and compassionate vision for the city’s future—one rooted in responsible growth, community pride, and opportunities for all. His priorities include:

  • Smart, Responsible Development that balances progress with the quality of life residents deserve.

  • Affordable Housing so seniors, families, and working people can continue to build their lives in Bayonne.

  • Strong Community & Public Safety, supporting first responders and modernizing response systems.

  • Cleaner, Stronger Neighborhoods through improved code enforcement and beautification initiatives.

  • Protecting Bayonne’s Seniors with essential services, dignity, and care.

  • Expanding Mental Health Support to ensure vulnerable residents receive meaningful help.

  • Investing in Youth and the Arts, providing programs that inspire confidence, creativity, and opportunity.

 

Loyad is running for mayor because he loves this city—deeply and unconditionally. His life’s work has been shaped by service, and he believes Bayonne deserves leadership that listens, leads with integrity, and works side-by-side with the people.
